Implants
Now a days, when a person loses a tooth or teeth, they can be totally replaced with implants. The implant procedure has two steps. First the root of the implant is placed where the roots of the missing tooth were. Then, the top of the tooth is placed. Therefore the "entire" tooth can now be replaced. This offers much better support for the individual's use.

Tooth colored or (composite) fillings
Most people are used to the silver or amalgam fillings that their dentist had done. Composite or tooth colored fillings can be placed where most dentists would use the old silver fillings. Where silver fillings have a heavy metal base like silver, nickel, and mercury; composite fillings are metal free and have amineral in their make-up. Where silver fillings are just packed into the area where the cavity was, a composite filling is bonded into that same area. Plus, they are tooth colored and come in several shades to match the remaining tooth structure.

Check-ups
As the name implies, a check up is just that, a time when your teeth are cleaned and checked by the Hygienist and the Dentist. There are several grades of check-up depending on the complexity of each individual's teeth. Most need the normal check-up and cleaning. Some need a deeper cleaning because it has been quite sometime since their last cleaning or that they have differing degrees of gum disease.

Crowns
When a tooth has been broken or the existing filling has failed or covers over two thirds of the surface of the tooth, a crown or (cap) is needed to support the tooth. The old filling and any weakened or decayed tooth structure is removed, then the tooth is "built up" with a filling material like composite. Finally, the tooth is prepared and an impression is taken and sent to a dental lab. A perfect tooth colored replica is fabricated and cemented permanently over the remaining tooth and feel free to chew away.

Root Canal therapy
This treatment usually brings chills or fear to a patient's mind. Actually, now a days, root canal treatment is pain free and quick. Each tooth has a nerve inside. This nerve is responsible for the well being of the tooth. When a tooth is broken or decayed deep enough to reach the nerve, that nerve must be removed. Most patient's who have a tooth ache need a root canal to remove the pain. Once the nerve is removed
from the tooth the tooth will be "numb" forever and feel no more pain.
